Merissa Sakuda, Clean Energy Solutions Program Manager
Merissa Sakuda is the Clean Energy Solutions Program Manager for the Hawaii State Energy Office. The Clean Energy Solutions branch promotes the advancement of energy innovation and test bed investments to drive the clean energy economy in Hawaii.
Under Merissa’s leadership, the Clean Energy Solutions branch is tasked with supporting entrepreneurship and identifying, developing and utilizing tools that assist with communicating information about complex energy systems to drive the development of an innovated energy ecosystem. The Clean Energy Solutions team also assists DBEDT with its the oversight of the GEMS (Green Energy Market Securitization) Bonds, which have gained national and international attention as an innovative, green financing initiative.
Prior to joining the Hawaii State Energy Office, Merissa served as a Researcher at the Public Utilities Commission where she was responsible for the development and management of programs that use the State’s Public Benefits Fees. Merissa holds a M.S. in Natural Resources and Environmental Management and a Graduate Certificate in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Hawaii at Manoa and a B.A. in Environmental Science from Columbia University.
