LBE Resource Efficiency Program

As part of the LBE initiative, the Resource Efficiency Program was created. This program provides an opportunity for government agencies to participate in working toward smart energy and resource efficient operations while benefitting from lower operational and utility costs.

GET STARTED IN 3 EASY STEPS

STEP 1: CHECKLIST

Fill out and submit the LBE Resource Efficiency Program Checklist. The Checklist is a questionnaire assessing your business’s green attributes and practices. The Checklist helps businesses move beyond compliance and can act as a list of suggestions for improvement along with providing resources to help reach the highest levels of sustainability.

STEP 2: SITE VISIT

Depending on the results from the Enrollment Application and Checklist, a Site Visit may be scheduled. Working in coordination with the Hawaii DOH and DBEDT, an auditor will contact and work with state agencies to verify responses to the Enrollment Application and Checklist with an in person Site Visit.

STEP 3: GET RECOGNIZED

After steps 1 and 2 are completed and verified applicants will be eligible for recognition as a Lead By Example State Agency by the Governor at the State Capitol.

Offices are then encouraged to display the Lead by Example logo, promote networking opportunities, public relations, and most importantly to increase public awareness. Members may post the LBE logo and re-enroll to receive LBE recognition time and time again as they continue to improve.

THEN WHAT?

MAINTAIN RECOGNITION

Lead By Example recognition is valid for one (1) year.

Follow these simple steps to maintain your Lead by Example recognition:

  1. Within one (1) month of expiration, go to the LBE website and download the Annual Re-Enrollment Form
  2. Submit electronically to: Jonathan Chin
  3. After two (2) consecutive years, recognized agencies should update and submit the LBE Checklist
