Energy Communications AmeriCorps VISTA
Position Summary
The Energy Communications VISTA is based in the Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism (DBEDT), Hawai‘i State Energy Office (HSEO). HSEO pursues the State’s vision of powering Hawai‘i‘s economy and promoting energy security through clean energy by facilitating innovation investment, and deployment of clean energy infrastructure as a catalyst for economic growth, energy innovation sector development, and energy security advancement.
The Energy Communications VISTA supports the HSEO’s mission by developing internal resources and communication frameworks that help staff advance affordable and reliable energy solutions across Hawai‘i. The VISTA will assist with internal coordination, communications, and event planning efforts in order to strengthen staff capacity to implement energy initiatives, support workforce development in the energy sector, and effectively communicate state and energy goals across different mediums. The VISTA will also support energy resource initiatives by conducting research in various areas and bolstering stakeholder coordination and communication.
Job Responsibilities
- Helping create materials and frameworks for internal staff coordination on the state’s energy economy
- Helping develop internal event planning systems, logistics checklists, and workflows for staff-led activities
- Helping design internal outreach planning tools, facilitation guides, and workshop resources for staff use
- Creating internal communication strategies, messaging libraries, content templates, and style guides fort staff use
- Creating internal stakeholder mapping tools and engagement protocols for staff use
- Developing internal research summaries, audience analysis, and decision-making frameworks for staff use
- Writing, proofreading, and editing creative and technical content across different mediums to effectively communicate state energy goals and priorities
- Increasing understanding of complex issues internally
- Conducting market research of Hawai‘i communities on requirements, habits, and trends of HSEO audiences’ communication habits to help inform staff
This VISTA role does not support American Climate Corps activities or energy and climate policy advocacy
