More information: https://www.honolulu.gov/completestreets/waikiki
Please join the City and County of Honolulu for a virtual community meeting on October 26, 2022 at 6:00pm, to discuss proposed improvements on Ala Wai Boulevard. Improvement plans have been developed based on public input gathered over the past two years. This is the last community meeting before the plans are finalized. We encourage those who live, work, play, and travel along Ala Wai Boulevard to participate and provide input to guide this project. Register at: https://rebrand.ly/CS-AlaWai-Register.
Ala Wai Boulevard connects residents, visitors, and businesses within Waikiki and to the surrounding neighborhoods. The purpose of the Ala Wai Boulevard Complete Streets project is to make the street safer for everyone, including those walking, using a wheelchair, on a bike, riding transit, and in a car.
Proposed changes include:
two-way protected bikeway
curb extensions
additional pedestrian crossings
pedestrian crossing beacons
speed limit reduction to 25 mph
lighting improvements
time-of-day parking changes
